    coinmaster 5500 d series 3 manual

The obvious trend is to more current models that require a slower sweep speed, and that feature visual target ID. While many of us who are rather devoted to the hobby own and use a model or two that lacks Target ID, the vast majority of the hobbyists today prefer it, so take that into consideration. Also, consider the physical package of those older models. They were more fatiguing than those that use a 'S' rod design and have an armcup, etc. I would look in the Whites Web page for a forum to ask questions also. If you are seeking coins, jewelry and the like, the machine will give you good results. The technology has changed somewhat but what was a very good VLF (Very Low Frequesncy) machine then will still do a good job at finding targets today. If that machine fits your budget, gets you started in the hobby and allows you to make some good finds, what more can you ask. Many of us have started with a basic machine to see how the hobby suits us. We don't know if we will have success, we don't know if we will find targets and we don't know if we want to dedicate the time to seeking. This machine will help you make some decisions about whether you really like the hobby or not and if you want to upgrade to a newer, more expensive machine down the road. Go out, practice, make some finds and see what you think in a couple months. In the meanwhile, research and learn to set yourself up for success and ask us any questions that come to mind.:wavey: I have a White's XLT and I love it if my wife would let me I would upgrade to a DFX. I also have a Garrett Ace 250 a perfect learning metal detector. It does almost as good as my XLT it just lacks a little depth. (My oldest coins however were found with my ACE 250.) These guys are great and will answer all your questions. I used to MD back in the 70's and you were all alone. Now that I'm getting back into it I feel like I've got a family and support.

I decided on an older analog detector as my first to properly learn how they work. In the meantime I've been reading the manual a few times. A lot to get your head around. I have made a list of a few general questions that I should be ale to answer myself after a bit of practice, but I was wondering if anyone has any comments from their own experience which might speed up the learning curve for me.

Happy hunting:wave: If the detector works it sounds like a good price and a good machine to start out with, sure beats some of the newer department store detectors in that price range. I had a White's and was very happy with it! The only complaint I had with my old machine is that it is heavy. My new DFX only weighs 3 pounds. If you don't have the manual, go to Whites website and you can download it from their site. If you have questions, they have a toll free number listed there. The Whites customer service department is unsurpassed in their cooperation in helping those of us who use their equipment. You will be amazed how willing to help they are. Click on that and everything is listed there. This site had been searched heavily for over 25 years. The coin had been there for over 50 years. I think you will love this detector. I used mine so much you can't read the print around the dials any longer. Good luck, Robalou I looked on ebay but no luck. Any advice? I used them in the mid '80s with great results (coins and jewelry at good depths). I think the last unit I had was the 6000 series machine. I found this detector while buying a laser printer and the battery pack is just dead. I looked on ebay but no luck. Any advice? I know people that have done this with remote control cars. Business Hours M- F It's easy to enhance a program, too, for your particular metal detector hunting with one of 10 Basic Adjustments or even a Professional Option. Completely automatic or totally adjustable. The Surf metal detector's all-new power circuit reaches new depths, especially on the most prized jewelry - smaller gold, platinum and white gold. Even in the worst beach conditions like black sand.

Do you have to turn SAT off before pulling the trigger for it to work properly. Any help is really appreciated. Cheers. I had this issue with a Tesoro Vaquero not ground balancing properly on the beach, and the only way to shut it up over wet sand was to introduce some discrimination to make things workable. Not knowing enough about this prticular detector, all I can suggest is to head down to beach with some coin targets, and try out the various modes and SAT settings on both dry and wet, and see what works best. Hopefully someone else can chime in with regards to this particular detector. They are a great detector, forget ground balancing on them as its not needed and confusing. Set it to TR DISC, SENS up to 8, DISCRIM Set to about 5-8. ( you may not have sens ) Hold the coil half a foot off the ground and press the red button. Lay a rusty nail, foil and multiple coins on the ground and choose the discrimination amount you want set by turning the disc knob. Sometimes it won't pickup 1c and 2c and 20c. I used to use GEB DISC but found that TR DISC kept me much happier. A photo of your control box would be useful as there are a few models that differ if you can show But you may also find that the tone dissapears with a button press. Hold the coil off the ground half an inch, press the button, release.and then turn the tuner to a quiet mode or silent ( just below buzzing ). And all like I said above with tr disc, and disc to be safe, put GEB onto 5-6 if it seems noisy. Much appreciated.

For hunting on wet salt beaches, it was suggested that I use one of the non-discriminating GEB modes with SAT turned on. With this set-up I will get no discrimination but should get good depth with smooth operation once ground balanced. There is a statement in the manual that in disc mode salt is the first thing to be rejected in disc mode. Aren't I already knocking this out by ground balancing. If I am able so ground balance out the wet salt sand then I guess this in not necessary and discrimination modes are really only to reject junk targets. TR Disc mode 2 refers to setting up in this mode in a similar manner to ground balancing, but instead of using the GEB knob, the Disc knob is used. You have to turn the knob the opposite way that you would turn the GEB knob during the procedure. Again, I don't really get this. Surely if the ground can't be balanced out, then using GEB disc mode and adjusting the disc knob in will allow enough rejection for wet salt beaches. Is it only a difference of whether there is more background noise. So I guess what I am wondering is - What is the difference between using TR Disc Mode 2 or GEB norm in wet sand. Both say excellent depth and are all metal as you lose the ability to get discrimination when setting TR disc up in this way. You don’t have to move the coil in TR disc, but do with GEB norm when using SAT.Also - Is the SAT setting likely to compensate enough to allow going from wet sand to dry sand without ground balancing again. Is SAT mode necessary to use on dry sand. If it is not necessary, then it seems like it would be better to not use it to avoid the need for having to keep the coil moving. If SAT isn't necessary then I guess using GEB disc would be better to use on dry sand to be able to reject junk. If your pulling the trigger in GEB norm or GEB max, you will be swapping over to GEB disc mode. GEB disc is not supposed to work well with SAT turned on.
